Chicago Chop House60 W. Ontario St. Cuisine: Steak Chicago Chop House remains my favorite steak restaurant. Why? The steak tastes so good. After being seated, the bread comes out as usual. The bread at Chop House is good enough to make a meal out of it, but I reserve myself to having only one slice so I have enough room for my steak. I typically get the 24 oz. New York strip which is more than enough. This is my favorite cut here. No matter how you ask the steak to be cooked, it will be juicy and good. Appetizers like crab cakes are phenomenal. Although the appetizers are really good, keep in mind that the portions are quite small. I hardly get appetizers here unless I'm in a large group because the dinner entree is filling enough. The service at Chop House is adequate for a high-end restaurant. The service is typically quite impersonal, but the waiter attends my needs and checks up on me enough times. The staff is more systematic in making sure everything is run smoothly. From the Maitre' Dee to the bus boy, everyone is courteous as you would expect from a well established steak house. To sum up, I have consistently been satisfied by their service. Chop House requires reservation. They are very accomodating to large groups. This can be a plus if you are in a large group, but if you are in the same room with a large party, you might get annoyed. It is possible to have a nice low-medium noise dinner if there aren't any large groups. Downstairs has a full bar while the main dining area is upstairs. Chop House remains my favorite steak house simply because the meat is the best I ever had. Chop House is the only steak house in Chicago I consistently return to. A great, classy place to take anyone who wants a tasty steak. |
